An activity given to us by Amal Academy in which they challenged our problem solving skills to accept failure. We done this activity as a group by collecting funds for Edhi Foundation.

“I believe in nature and humanity and am here to serve the common people of Pakistan. There is a great deal of suffering in this country and I’m here to help.” ~ Abdul Sattar Edhi~

Here I am being a leader sharing the experience of my circle members. They all participate and do their work in a given time.

Irsa Rafique:

I didn’t collect funds before, but by performing this activity I managed to find a new kind of skill of persuading others and talking to them about donations as much as they can. My interaction got better than before. We collect funds in group. I put status on my WhatsApp as well as also sent messages in chat to my friends and ask them to donate and spread further. I also made phone calls to some persons in my contact list. So all of the funds were donated at one of our group fellow’s easy paisa account. The challenges that I faced include: when I sent messages most of my fellows didn’t see and when they saw, there was no reply from them. So I again texted them back via voice message and explain about whole situation and appeal for donation. 2nd challenge that I faced, one of my college mate said it looked fake (Permission Letter), so it was quite surprising for me but I calmly explain to her that it was not fake, we had a project given by AMAL ACADEMY and I also asked her to google about AMAL ACADEMY, and when she did, she was quite satisfied I experienced failure because most of the fellow’s despite of fact they were agree to donate, but there was no response from them. I asked them about reason and they were being like we are sending. But no response till yet. So I learned that we don’t have to waste our time behind such people because if someone want to donate he does right at the moment.

Fatima Akram:

It was a different experience for me, as I have never done fund collection before. First, it was hard to speak with people and there was fear of rejection but everybody I contacted responded in a positive way. I collected fund individually because not all other members are from the same city. However, I think it would be great if I had worked in a group, because teamwork pays in a much better way and we learn many things from each other. Working alone was also a different experience and it was good in the way that it helped me to come out of comfort zone.

Some people did not respond et all. Some questioned about the activity and I try to answer them. It helped me in accepting failure in a way that at least I gave it a try and get some responses.

Junaid Ahmed:

It was a great experience for me to collect funds for social cause. It was very difficult for me to collect funds because I never asked someone to give me funds for social cause before. I started from my family member’s i asked my family member’s to give me funds for Edhi foundation. I also put status on my WhatsApp lot of peoples ignored it. I put a box of Edhi Foundation in my friend’s shop. I am very shy person this activity helps me to out of my comfort zone. I collected funds individually because other’s member is too much for away from my area. It’s different because when we are working as a team we have lot of ideas which helped us to achieve our goal easily as compared to individual. I have faced lot of challenges while collecting funds because lot people ignored me when I asked them to provide funds for Edhi foundation. Some of people said that your academy will take that money then it’s difficult for me to convene them but I tried hard and told them that after collecting the Final funds we will deposit to the nearest Edhi center and the receipt of deposit send to the academy. This experience is very helpful for me to accept the failure. We can’t achieve success without failure. I had listened lot of things from peoples but I tried hard to collect the funds. At the end i had collect enough amounts for the Edhi foundation. Behind every failure there is a success.

Muhammad Zeeshan:

I was pretty shocked as to how was I going to ask for money from strangers and my friends. I hesitated at first. Then, I asked a close friend of mine. I explained him the cause and he instantly became willing to donate. This boosted my morale. I made a poster for my group and shared it with my circle members. I posted it on my Social Media and started getting replies that they were willing to donate. The main problem I faced was not getting rejected by people but it was about the method of transfer of funds. Most of the people who donated, didn’t have an EasyPaisa Account (which was our primary source of donations). The people were willing to donate but due to the Pandemic, our group refrained from going outside our homes for donations. This was the main reason our total donations were less than others. Another reason was that all of my circle members belonged to different cities so it was even harder to collaborate with the other circles whose majority group members reside in Faisalabad. Nevertheless, it was an exciting experience. At first, I thought that I would be begging and I cannot do that. But, the cause behind the begging made me continue my effort.

Ahsan Ameer:

I am afraid that how I face rejection but by doing this activity it was really a great experience for me. I came to know how I can face failure in a positive way. After this activity I know my new skill is acceptance. We collect funds separately. It was tough but after some time it became normal and interesting. Challenges that I have faced like I put Amal’s permission letter on my status then people didn’t believe in me they called it a fake. This activity helped me to accept failure in a better way.

Conclusion:

Due to pandemic COVID-19 we decided not to go outside for collection of funds. We decided to put Amal’s permission letter on social media such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram. So many refuse we have faced but didn’t give up. We told about this activity to our family, friends and relatives. They helped us as much as they can do and we hardly collected approximately 7K in two weeks. We face failure and then try to see its positive side and accept this failure. It was really a paradigmatic activity for all of us. Thank you Amal Academy for giving us this opportunity.
